In the 23rd movie about James Bond we get introduced to Hashima Island, just outside the coast of Nagasaki in Japan.
Javier Bardem’s character, the villain Silva use the island as his lair.
In the movie there’s a scene of James Bond traveling to the island in his yacht to confront Silva.
The scenes on the island is filmed in a studio. But the island is real and got abandoned by the 5000 coal mine workers who lived there until 1974.
Today the island is open for tourism and 2015 it got selected as a UNESCO – world heritage to protect the property.
